New York Trip

Last week I went to New York with university which was all kinds of amazing but it was so surreal. New York's one of those places that I've always wanted to visit but never thought I'd actually get to, so this was an amazing opportunity to be offered by the uni and obviously yes, I had to go.

We were there for three nights, no where near enough time to do everything, so we had to cram as much into the day as possible and, needless to say, I'm still exhausted. I don't think I've walked so much in my life! Our hotel was across the street from Madison Square Garden and a short walk from Times Square, we took the subway Uptown to Park Ave, Madison Ave, 5th Ave and visited designer stores there like Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Jimmy Choo and, of course, Barneys. We also went to Tiffany's, Central Park and Macy's and did some sight-seeing at Rockerfeller, the Statue of Liberty and Ground Zero. We also had a visit to the Vanity Fair office, thanks to our tutor, which was so fantastic and interesting and made me feel like I was in a cross between The Devil Wears Prada and Ugly Betty. Also went to the Hard Rock Cafe for food one night, so great to walk round and see everything on display, Courtney Love's guitar (with cat stickers), Elvis' suit & guitar, the original doors from Abbey Road.. I could go on.

My favourite part of the whole trip was the day (or half day) spent in Soho. A lot calmer than being right in the centre of the city with more little cafes and boutiques to look in and the buildings are gorgeous there. Pretty much every street we went down looked like it was straight from Sex And The City. (we even found the bakery that was featured in Season 3!) Walking round Soho felt so comfortable and relaxed, like I could easily imagine myself living there one day, and there's lots of interesting things to look at like graffiti, stickers, posters and the details in the architecture. Someone looked through my photos and said it looked like I was studying architecture, not fashion. I appreciate both, I guess. And who knows, they might become some sort of inspiration in the future.

Here's just a small selection of the photos I took while there. I'm going to do a separate post just for Soho photos because I loved it that much.
